It is commonly thought that only professional drivers can gain a licence to drive a horse box, and drive their own horses professionally. In fact, more and more horse riders and owners are gaining a licence of their own.
This can provide a greater degree of flexibility and convenience for you and your horse, and can save you money in the long-term, eliminating the need to hire professional drivers.
A Horsebox licence is, in essence, the same as a Category C course. This permits a driver to transport a horsebox which weighs up to 18 tonnes [excluding load].
